About Us

Bear Branch Horse Camp is centrally located in the beautiful 280,000-acre Shawnee National Forest just above Lusk Creek Canyon. Named after a creek that runs through the property, Bear Branch offers multiple access to the most scenic riding and hiking trails in the Forest.

The Shawnee National Forest now has marked trails as well as good maps. No Bridle Tags are required to ride in Shawnee National Forest.

Our horse camp is within easy riding or hiking distance of Indian Kitchen, High Point, Devil’s Back Bone, Natural Rock Bridge, Salt Peter Cave, Secret Canyon, Peter Cave, Sand Cave, Jackson Hole, Bell Smith Springs, and Hayes Creek Canyon. And we’re just minutes from the River-to-River Trail. While you are here, be sure to save time to visit the breathtaking Garden of the Gods, Harrah’s Riverboat Casino, and the many antique shops located nearby.

Bear Branch features cabins and lodging with private baths, 80 campsites with hookups and highlines, a shower house with laundry facilities, heat and air conditioning, and a General Store and Tack Shop. For your horses, there are corrals (approx. 100′ x 100′) and numerous 12′ x 12′ pens, high lines at all campsites, and a barn with 37 box stalls. There is a 2-acre fishing pond and a playground and recreational area. Our trails are marked, and trail maps are available.
